The News Of The Foz

"When The Going Gets Weird, The Weird Turn Pro" 29/09/04 21:55

What happened to summer? One minute I was at Glastonbury thinking 'this is going to be a wicked summer' then the next thing I know it's late September, the Christmas deckies are in the shops (WHY!!!? For the Love of God - WHY!!!!!?) it's getting dark early and I've done nothing at all for the last 2 months except to work my ass off in 4 jobs on 4 hours' sleep a night. It all started when a gig came up to cover for the main DJ at my old workplace 'Lush' at Barons for 5 weeks while he was on holiday. The next thing I know I've got the position permanently. Meanwhile Hip-Hop/Drum & Bass maniacs Rubik's Cube decided to take a breather until September so The Strip went weekly for a couple of months. On the one hand it's all gone a bit Ker-CHING!!!! but on the downside it's all gone a bit mental.

Since the DJing's taken off and since I last saw any of my old friends or in fact anyone that wasn't a work colleague, paying customer or housemate I've become increasingly isolated and bitterly unhappy with my main day job as you would if you spent years studying and working your arse off to try and become an artist only to end up putting up with shit from banking customers all day. Q. "Why have you charged me for going overdrawn?" A. "Because you were stupid enough to piss about with money you didn't have and are now trying to wriggle out of paying the consequences now you've been caught with your pants down." so I'm desperately looking for a way to jump ship but without losing the all important salary and landing in somewhere far far worse.

As if this news section wasn't bad enough I've finally joined the 21st century phenomenon of posting really mundane and uninspiring drivel online for people to read. Hang on, that is this section... No... I've set up my own Live Journal so if you have similar interests or just want to stalk me because I'm so good looking then check out http://www.livejournal.com/users/kultofkylie/. Meanwhile in the land of art I've added a couple ore things I had floating around onto the 2004 section to keep you occupied while I work on my wompingly good new portrait of ace photographer/rock chick Shelley Garner. I'm doing it in the same style as the Five Short Films paintings because I'll likely be re-visiting that style for my next project. More info as it happens.
