The News Of The Foz
Sunshine, Sea and Sand 10/06/06 00:46 ![]() The European section of the International Mini Art Exchange exhibition @ Queen B's, Queen Charlotte City, BC. Photo by Kiki Van Der Heiden. It's taken a long time but I'm finally starting to settle in Poole. I've done a bit more work on what I've loosely titled the 'Intimacy' project and am currently sketching out ideas for my projects on Fear & Lust so expect lots of seemingly blank red and black canvases later in the year. The idea is to paint canvases that are the same colour but slightly different shades/finish. So for example I could do a painting that was satin black on a matt black background. That way you can only see the painting if you catch the light at the right angle. Cool huh? Not sure how I would photograph it for the website mind. I have also ordered some postcards of 'Pauses' which will be on sale from this very website if they turn out ok. This month has seen not one but two exhibitions for me. After breaking my record for 'longest period of time without an exhibition in my adult life' I now have a sort of mini retrospective in the Brunswick pub, Duke Street, Swansea until late July. The show includes a brand new blue acrylic version of 'Pauses' and my portrait of Elvis that I had originally painted to hang in my toilet as well as older work like 'Oxwich Burroughs'. As well as this the study for 'Kissing Lori' that I made last year is featured in the latest instalment of the International Mini Art Exchange in Canada. The overall quality of work for the project has been outstanding this year and the whole project has this really nice buzz around it at the moment. The show will be on for a few weeks but will then move to Singapore to be seen in Instinc in january 2007.
