Dear Nico:
Although I know I am violating a few minor regulations, I cannot resist sending you the enclosed Journal. I'll put it even more strongly and say I consider it my duty, since you have given up army-doctoring and taken up psychiatry, to provide you with an opportunity to study this strange and clinically candid self-portrait of a beautiful woman and her uncomprehending struggle to appease the 'demon in her flesh', as she herself so poetically puts it. What a superbly uninhibited creature she must have been! Briefly, the facts are these: The original manuscript, of which I enclose a copy, was found on a shifty-eyed boy who was pulled in here for theft. We don't know quite what to make of it...
Should there be any new developments I'll write you about them immediately. If the woman is ever found - well, we shall see what we shall see.
