STORIES No.99
Vision of the Damned by top flight supernatural author R. Lionel Fanthorpe, whose stories have already thrilled millions, is a weird saga of suppressed evil in unexpected places and the hideous consequences of its escape. Elton T. Neef, who will be remembered for his brilliant short story The Manhatten Warlock in SN 91, makes a further essay into the supernatural realm with The Paintbox, the weird adventures of an American tourist who bought more than he bargained for. Veteran supernatural author Bron Fane returns with The Prodigy, a strange story of reincarnation and sudden death. French author Réné Rolant brings a touch of authentic Gallic charm to blend with the mystery of the ancient chateau in his latest masterpiece, Shadow of Fear. Last, but by no means least, in this carefully selected miscellany of eery tales, is Oben Lerteth's Reading Room. There is Welsh poetry and ancient Celtic mysticism in this uneasy story of a man who finds himself left alone in a strangely changing library. |

STORIES No.85
"Avenging Goddess", by R. Lionel Fanthorpe, S.M.B.I.S., is a spine chilling saga of a vendetta that transcended Time and Death. The inner shrine had been violated and blood alone was insufficient recompense for the Immortal One. New author Thornton Bell makes an exciting start with "Endor's Daughter", a tale of witchcraft and Black Magic, which is compelling and authentically told. "Valley of the Kings", by Olaf Trent is a story which combines the author's rare knowledge of Egyptology with a plot full of gradually insinuated horror. Old favourite Trebor Thorpe returns with "The Sword and the Statue", an Arthurian romance in the highest tradition of mysticism and mediaeval chivalry, woven into a modern setting. Lee Barton, who will be remembered for his recent novel "The Unseen", turns from the classical vampire theme to a strange supernatural adventure involving the borders of reality. His "Dark Staircase" is among the most disturbing weird stories of the decade. |
