SUPERNATURAL STORIES 45 & 63
SUPERNATURAL STORIES No.45 A collection of five stories covering the fantastic, the weird and the eerie, by masters of the macabre. Here you will meet a very frightened woman, frightened not of ghosts or unseen horrors that walk the night, but of the little things which lurk in dark corners even in the clear, sane light of day. Also there is a grim little tale of a man who stooped to sorcery, only to find that things do not always turn out to be what they seem; and of something dark and evil that existed in one man's dreams, finally growing stronger so that it could come out into the open and haunt his waking life. These are tales not to be read all at one sitting, nor alone at night, for between these pages will be found a set of strange and fascinating stories, each with its own individual underlying theme of fantasy and ghostliness. The kind of stories which make you say: I know it can't possibly be true, but still - ? |

SUPERNATURAL
STORIES No.63 A further series of macabre stories, covering the inexplicable, the odd and the eerie. Here you will meet an old man who lived alone, shunned by his neighbours and for a very good reason; of a strange room to which Death came, and which, because of an old prophecy, was sealed so that nothing might again enter that place, even though at times, it seemed there were things in the room which not even locked doors could stop. Also there is a quaint little tale of a witch-hunter on the prowl who encounters something far beyond human experience in a small French village plagued by one who had made a bargain with Satan. Each story has its own underlying theme of fantasy and eerieness, bringing with it a brief glimpse of a world that might exist somewhere just beyond the shadows, on the other side of the veil which divides myth from reason, knowledge from superstition. These are stories which will hold your attention through every single page from the beginning to the end, written against the background of the strange, the weird and the occult, dealing with powers of darkness and superstition, with forces which have been glimpsed from the very beginning of time, but which are only now, being investigated and examined. [well, that's all very interesting, but sadly I won't get to read these stories of eerie superstitious occultness just yet, as the book is a misprint and the cover actually contains THE IMMORTALS by Leo Brett!] |
