Spurs booked a home tie with Stockport in the fifth round after an amazing comeback against Charlton, fighting back from 2-0 down to win 4-2. Three goals in six minutes turned the game on its head early in the second half after Chris Powell and Matt Svensson had put the Addicks 2-0 in front.

Powell, a Spurs fan, ran on to Svensson's cross after 11 minutes and took advantage of some hesitant Spurs defending to put Charlton in front. He was then booked for taking off his shirt in celebration. Tottenham hit back immediately and Sol Campbell came close with a curling shot which was well saved by Sasa Ilic.

Spurs should have equalized after half an hour when Sergei Rebrov's deflected shot fell to Tim Sherwood but his first touch let him down and Sasa Ilic saved at his feet. Five minutes later Rebrov had Spurs' best chance of the match but he fired his shot just wide after Gary Doherty had stolen the ball from Mark Fish.

Charlton then went 2-0 up just three minutes into the second half when Shaun Bartlett's shot deflected off Steffen Freund and into the path of Matt Svensson who stroked the ball into the bottom corner.

  1. Spurs pulled a goal back after 58 minutes after Gary Doherty burst down the right and his cross-cum-shot went in off the out-stretched leg of Richard Rufus.
  2. Then after 63 minutes, Darren Anderton whipped a free-kick over the wall which beat Ilic at his near post.
  3. Almost immediately, Spurs took the lead when Oyvind Leonhardsen ran on to a through ball and drilled his shot into the bottom corner to send the travelling Spurs fans wild.
  4. Spurs should have settled it 15 minutes from time when Rebrov found himself clean through but hit his shot straight at the legs of Ilic. Graham Stuart then had a fantastic opportunity to bring the scores level with ten minutes to go but he hit his shot straight at Sullivan when he had more time than he thought.

Rebrov put the icing on the cake for Spurs when he flicked Doherty's through ball over the advancing Ilic with eight minutes to go and despite throwing everyone forward Charlton couldn't claw a goal back and Spurs held on to move into the next round.

COME ON YOU SPURS Charlton looking dangerous on the break, but we've nearly scored again with another og - 11 shots for Spurs against 8 so far. Crowd chanting for Carr and Parker has missed a good chance to make it 3-0

(2nd Half) No changes to either team after half time. Spurs out a good 3 minutes before Charlton - Fuck it - Charlton have scored again - Svensson - faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaackin hell. Bad clearance from Campbell started it. Graham out chants audible alongside come on you Spurs! We need Carr and Armo now

Chalton have regressed since scoring and Spurs have had some good chances, but are not showing much invention. Young playing well - COME ON YOU SPURS

(1st Half)Chances for Rebrov and Leo, before Spurs fan Powell put Charlton ahead with a header (13mins)- bastards, first goal since 1996, Sol has forced a good save from Ilic, but it's not looking good. Things picking up (marginally) and have forced a few corners - more possession, but no more chances. Ilic saved from Sherwood, who should have done better apparantly. Rebrov shot wide after, Doherty robbed Fish - another good chance gone! Anderton had a low shot which Ilic got at the second attempt at the end of the half
