Cornwall 2003
Fri 26th - 13:00 Simon rings - already down!!!.
13:30 Set off - there's a crash on the usual short cut via the A46 - so am diverted through Stratford - there's also congestion at Bristol (Friday traffic).
Arrive at the house at around 17:00ish. simon & norma & fiona & robert, steve & cathy & joseph & frances, karen & simon, neil & lisa are already well established.
We head for the rural metropolis that is St Kew to stock up at Costcutters for essentials (beer and other stuff)
Tonight we opt for easy option and get he best fish and chips in the whole of Cornwall from the local chippy.
There's a games room with a full sized snooker table (I seem to playing ok)

Sat 27th - There is Sky TV so we may catch the odd episode of a Star Trek spin off.
Alas there is a hint of rain today.
We head off for our first trip into cornish territory - Padstow - a quaint fishing villiage and haunt of the lesser spotted rick stein.
Our trip to the beach is called short when there is a hint of rain. We take shelter in a local hostelry where I have my first and only cornish pasty of the trip.
We stock up at Tescos at Wadebridge (beer and other stuff) alas we almost have a little boy lost situation when J goes astray.
We have lemon chicken and garlic chicken and roast chicken for dinner - the gang try to badger me into reading a story to the kids - obviously I would just frighten the poor little souls!!!
Stuart + Grant arrive
It must be time for more snooker (I seem to playing less well)
Me + Neil watch phoenix nights til wee hours.
I awake at 5am, still in front of the box - Neil had snuck off and left me - Star Trek Voyager is on.

Sun 28th - I am a bit shattered today so much slobbing around in front of the telly is called for.
Alas there is a hint of rain - nevermind there's footie on all day and a fridge full of beer!!!
As it's Sunday so there's Roast Dinner.
There is more snooker to be played (alas I seem to be off my game).
Star trek voyager is on again.
Mon 29th - Time for another adventure into cornish territory - It's Lostwithiel today - the antique centre of cornwall (more like the closed antique centre of cornwall) - nothing appears to be open. We have a light lunch in a small bistro.
We head further south to Fowey - a quaint fishing villiage - it has too many steep hills for my liking - my legs are buggered.
Simon wins the cook out for the week for his flattened chicken.
We head down to the local hostelry - the Red lion.
There's more snooker (I am sure those pockets were bigger the other day)
Star Trek Next Generation is on for a change.
Tue 29th - The others decide to hit the camel trail and visit dairyland.
After watching Shrek, I decide to head off for somewhere a bit more urban - Newquay.
On the way I get buzzed by the red arrows - a regular occurance I am assured by the locals.
I have a wander around the streets and visit the beach and headland - it's well blustery - if only I had brought my windsurfer!!
Back at the farmhouse, alas there is a hint of rain - must be time to play trivial pursuit.
Tonight we take a trip out to the Kew Inn - very nice country pub with a good selection of food and much quaffable ale.
As evening draws on it must be time for snooker (alas my skills have gone to pot) - I wonder if star trek is on?

Wed 30th - There is more exploring on the cards today with my planned whistlestop tour. I manage to drag S&G along for the experience. We head south through the windy roads until we hit st michaels mount and get out for a breather - it's well blustery - if only I had brought my windsurfer!!
Having stopped there for 5 minutes it's off again to landsend and the edge of the world - we have a stroll around and have lunch at the long ships
Then it's off to st ives. We have another wander around - we consider visiting the tate until we find out we have to pay - alas it rains. As it's wednesday it is nme day but after visiting umpteen newsagents I come to the conclusion that there is no nme in cornwall.
Tonight it's a mixture of curries - with enough left over to fill 12 baskets.
I am now fed up of snooker!

Thu 1st - It's May day and we didn't get burnt in a wicker man - Neil was the only one brave enough to go to obby oss festival in Padstow. We go to the Eden Project instead - we have a wander around the domes (or biomes as they like to call them) - the tropical one was quite interesting and we didn't get eaten by the velosaraptors. We had lunch there with lashings of their special beer.
We have a fairly subdued evening having the leftovers from the previous evenings.

Fri 2nd - Time to clear up & clear out. On the way back I decide to go cross country and take in Tintagel - bit of a steep walk and no sign of merlin or any swords.
