Methodism
Methodism was started by the Wesleys in the 18th Century. Today it is recognised for its
- system of local preachers used in the church circuit
- singing - Charles Wesley's hymns have made it into almost every hymn book there is and
most people would count a couple of the hymns he wrote in their choice of favourites. Today, we
sing a mixture of the traditional and the modern.
- involvement in the ecumenical scene - Methodists have a reputation for working closely with
all the mainstream denominations.
- teaching:- the doctrine that all need to be saved, all can be saved, all can know they are saved and all can be saved
to the uttermost.
Our faith and beliefs are essentially the same as the other main Christian denominations.
