  • A whale's heart beats only nine times a minute.

  • A Woodchuck breathes only ten times per hour while hibernating, while an active Woodchuck breathes 2,100 times an hour.

  • According to zoology experts, there is no real difference between doves and pigeons. The choice of name rests almost altogether on custom and geography, although the smaller of the species is, more often than not, called a dove. 

  • African elephants have 40,000 muscles in their trunks and can pick up a single blade of grass.

  • When eating, vultures often gorge themselves to the point that they can't fly. The bird will quickly regurgitate its meal to become light enough to escape if flight from an attacker is necessary.
