  Compiled by Joseph Lawrence 1942. 192 pp. 321 illustrations of photographs and silhouettes describing 108 Airplanes. The title was un-numbered. Though much sought after for its vintage World War 2 aircraft, the spotter's notes are brief and amateurish compared with the William Green books that followed. Approximately 35,000 were sold. Printed from 1942 to 1945 inclusive.

256 pp describing 109 types of Airplanes, Seaplanes, Helicopters and Gliders with help of black & white photographs and 3-view silhouettes. Annual revisions and good data established this book as the best cheap up-to-the-minute guide available, and the vade mecum of every keen aircraft spotter.

Printed from 1949 to 1982 inclusive.

    There are 34 known print variations, and 4 which have laminated coverings.

         There also 38 different dustjacket fronts, and 4 different laminated fronts.

        It was in print for over 30 years, with over 3 million copies being sold.
