  Compiled by W.J. Stoke, 1938. Described 69 species of wild animals, reptiles and amphibians, illustrated with a mixture of photographs and paintings. Book rewritten by author Maurise Burton in 1971. In terms of information and pictures, the Burton 1971 edition is a much better book.

  There are 33 known print variations and 1 which has a laminated covering.

  There also 8 different dustjacket fronts, and the laminated front has only 1 type.

In 1953 the word British was removed from the title and renamed Wild Animals

It was in print for over 40 years, with approximately 325,500 copies sold.
