British Butterflies

  Compiled by W.J. Stoke, 1938, coverd all British species and their life cycle. Revised 1951 to include the recently discovered New Clouded Yellow. Butterflies were a perfect subject for an observer book

  240 pp, 177 illustrations, in colour and black & white,text and pictures reproduced from Richard South's Butterflies of the British Isles.

  There are 28 known print variations and 3 which have laminated coverings.

  There also 9 different dustjacket fronts, and the laminated front has only 1 type.

                   In 1953 the word British was removed from the title.

  With only minor changes, it was in print for nearly 50 years, with 575,000 copies being sold between 1938-85
