Between 1961 and 1984, Warne published 14 books covering aircraft, ships, vehicles and spacecraft in greater
detail than was possible in their Pocket Series counterparts.
The first ten were published in an unusual horizontal format, exactly twice the
size of an Observer's book. The last four were larger still.
They were reference books for the serious enthusiast, in a suitably spacious format. Today all these books are out-of-print and are becoming scarce secondhand, though one still comes across them in reference libraries. Most sell for something around £10 sterling.
