Tress and Shrubs

  Compiled by W.J. Stoke, 1938. Described 106 native and widely planted species. Revised with new colour plates 1960, as Trees. The earlier versions were rather poorly illustrated but the 1975 Edlin Garrard edition is a fine book.

  240 pp, 177 illustrations, in colour and black & white,text and pictures based on Edward Step's Wayside and Woodland Trees.

  There are 35 known print variations and 2 which have laminated coverings.

  There also 8 different dustjacket fronts, and the laminated front has only 1 type.

                   In 1953 the word British was removed from the title and renamed Tress and Shrubs.

  It was in print for nearly 50 years, with approximately a million copies sold.
