- owned by the Brooke family from 1545 to 1964, who made Norton their home after purchasing it from King Henry VIII after the Dissolution of the Monasteries
- given by Sir Richard Brooke Bart. to Liverpool Museum in 1964 for safe keeping
- returned to Norton Priory Museum for display to visitors 1981
