What can be said about this notorious nasty that hasn't been said already? The storyline is simple with a small group entering the Amazonian jungle to find out if cannibalism really exists, obviously some people have to learn the hard way. They meet up with a dodgy couple of guys who say that they escaped from the savages after their friend was tortured and killed, so what do they do? run for their lives? no, they decide to go and check out the village themselves, figure that one out. The bulk of the rest of the film contains them eventually being caught, and most of them being tortured and killed. In between all this good fun are placed scenes of very nasty and totally repellent animal killings which serve no other purpose than to disgust. Make no mistake, this is strong stuff for the hard core horror fan only.

For all it's gore and violence I can't help but be disappointed with the film as a whole, the horror hits the mark allright but it's too infrequent with long boring dialogue in between and is obviously just padding to bring the running time up to feature length. I certainly wouldn't class this with the earlier and far superior 1979 film "Cannibal Holocaust" which has a much more realistic and nasty feel to it, Cannibal ferox comes accross as a straight cash in which hits the mark with it's fantastic gore scenes but falls down as a film in it's own right.

One thing I can't fault is the DVD which is great quality as you would expect although more extras would have been nice.
