The Different versions

The limited release 16mm Non-Theatrical Version

The full length version that I review will be quoted at a running time between 138mins and 145mins approx depending on the speed of the projector running it and the format it comes on, this is the totally uncut version with all the added dialogue missing from other versions.

The American Theatrical Version

At around 126mins this version cuts down on heavy dialogue and cuts a few scenes completely.

This is the version most people know and love with a different use of the GOBLIN soundtrack in places and a faster pace.

The Dario Argento Cut

Cut further at only approx 115mins this version loses scenes but also gains others not in other versions with scenes not in the others, mostly shown from a different perspective and nothing new or exiting. The European versions came from this cut.

The R Rated Version

This was briefly released in the states to try and make the film more accessable to a wider audience but with more than 50 cuts it did more harm than good and was quickly pulled by the distributers because of an angry backlash by the fans.

The Japanese Theatrical Version

The Argento version with further cuts making it almost unwatchable.

The Japanese Television Version

This version was dubbed in japanese and had almost all gore removed.
