This has got to be one of the least heard of and hardest to track down zombie films ever ,the copy I have is in Italian with no subtitles and has a low quality picture. The film itself revolves around voodoo rites and the resurection of black slaves (who come out of the ground with thier legs still chained together) who seek revenge on any living person. The storyline is easy to pick up as one guy encounters a voodoo ceremony and switches on his tape recorder to record the strange drums and chants, he is then posessed somehow and while on a trip with two friends decides to play the tape in a cemetary with the obvious results.
This film wont make anybody's top ten zombie films, but it has got a few things going for it. The resurection scene is quite effective with flames coming from the ground and the zombies themselves look ok with passable make-up. Unfortunatly anyone looking for a high body count will be disappointed with this one although there are two stand out scenes of excellent gore.
One for Lenzi fans and zombie film lovers only.
Gore
The two scenes I mention are both very nasty eye violence scenes with eyes being pulled out with large hooks in gory fashon.
