The awesome Story of Ricky is a mixture of
martial arts and gore film, which works with a wicked sense of
humour and great effects to create a truly memorable experience.
Ok, so the storyline is very basic and totally over the top, but
as this was a comic strip before it was made into a film it's
hardly surprising is it ? Ricky himself is an almost
indestructable force who withstands bullets, beatings, torture,
and a host of other near death experiences intact. The enemies
are also very comic strip ranging from huge sumo sized enemies to
small feminine kung fu masters, who are despatched in an array of
gruesome ways, yes this is a very gory film but one which never
feels nasty in the way that it is portrayed compared to something
like Zombie Flesheaters. The setting in a futuristic prison
allows for plenty of confrontation with the bad guys ruling
seperate wings and the warden and his assistant being very cruel
to the inmates.
This is a must see film for all lovers of
alternative film or any horror fan looking for something
different from the shite being spewed out of the major studios
these days.
