Just for the record , I'm reviewing the complete uncut version and not the cut to shreds UK video release which isn't worth considering. This is no "Dawn of the Dead" which can be enjoyed even in cut form. No, this is a zombie film based solely on it's extreme gore scenes which aim to shock and disgust, they certainly do that . The storyline is little more than an excuse to get a group of people together ready to be butchered, so basically it's a film for lovers of pure trash films only. In other words me and people like me. This was one of the fist extreme gore films I'd seen and made other films look tame in comparison.
A group of friends arrive at a villa for a quiet weekend and are soon set upon by hordes of hungry zombies hungry for their flesh. One by one they are brutally murdered until the survivors make a break for freedom only to be tricked into an ambush by the zombies in the finale.
The striking thing about the zombies in this film is that although they are the stereotypical slow shambling monsters that you usually see, they actually show some intelligence in the way they pursue their victims, making for a welcome change.
This is not a classic by any means but it still deserves a viewing, just don't expect a happy ending.
Gore
The worst gore in this film comprises of entrail ripping and eating which is long and drawn out to really test the audience stomach.
A very nasty breast being bitten off scene .
A woman is decapitated with a scythe, slowly, ouch!
A woman's face is cut up as her head is pulled through a broken window
