Foreword by the Chairman of the Parish Council

This information pack is funded by the Parish Council and this, the first issue, has been delivered to each home in the Parish. It will be amended and re-issued as necessary and the Village Diary will be used to update the content between issues. When new residents come to the village, we intend that they will receive a copy. It shows local businesses, clubs and societies, etc. and gives an idea of what goes on in the village and how to become involved in the activities existing in our Parish.

I have been a Parish Councillor for nearly eight years and, even in this relatively short time, I have seen many changes. Parish Councils are now much more involved at all levels in the decision-making/influencing of District and County Councils. It therefore makes sense that residents take an interest in what goes on.

The Parish Council meets on the first Tuesday of each month for Planning and Finance Committee Meetings. The full council meets on the third Tuesday of the month at 7.15 pm in the Village Hall. Thirty minutes is set aside for public participation at the beginning of the meeting. The Village Diary contains a report of the meetings.

I take this opportunity to say welcome to you, be you long or short-term resident, or someone who is joining the Parish community. I do hope you find this pack useful.
