Lydden Court
Farm
Situated
in the village of Lydden which is just outside Dover. Animals are brought
to this lairage from all over England. When the Cap Afrique docks at
Dover Eastern Docks the empty transporters, that are discharged from
the death ship come to Lydden Court and are loaded with their next consignment
of misery. Lydden court is owned by Trevour Head a well known farmer
in the area.
Uffington Court Farm
Uffington
Court Farm is situated on the B2046 Adisham Road, just outside Canterbury
and is owned by Richard Miles. This is used mainly as a collection point
for the animals by foreign registered transporters after disembarking
from the Cap Afrique. They then immediately return fully loaded to the
death ship.
Petham
Petham
is situated on the B2068 just outside Canterbury. Christopher Robin
Hooper and his wife Anne are joint owners of this lairage. They live
in Shornecliffe Road Folkestone. This site was the scene of a 'Despatches'
expose. When calves were still being exported to veal crates in Europe,
before the beef ban , the Local Veterinary Inspector at the time was
clearly seen infringing regulations involved with the inspection of
the animals and the paperwork.
These
'infringements' carry on and are sadly widespread.
These are
the official lairages in Kent. But there are others around the country
including one at Layer-de-le-Hay, which is owned by Lennox
PETHAM,
LYDDEN AND CAPEL LAIRAGES ARE NOW CLOSED AND ARE USED FOR LIGHT INDUSTRY,
UFFINGTON COURT FARM STILL HAS A LICENSE BUT IS NOT CLASSED AS A EUROPEAN
STAGING POST SO WE DOUBT IF IT WILL BE USED FOR EXPORTS.
