CRANHAM GARAGE

This sold petrol up until the 1980's. A small business in selling used cars was started in the 1960's which slowly grew over the next twenty years. The stores adjacent were slowly taken over one by one, starting with Wards following its move across the road, eventually followed by Green's stores and finally Aston's (early 90's?). During the 1980's the petrol retailing side was also abandoned to make way for more show space. There was a period in the 1970's when the Green's stores building was used for pleasure boat sales (along with a second shop in the row of shops on St Mary's Lane (near the Thatched House pub). This was the location of the first post office in Cranham.

In the 1970's the garage had a major fire. Now (1997) known as "Cranham Motors", doing MOTs.
