GWR 14xx CLASS - Kit THREE - Axles

The fitting of the axles was relatively straight forward as was the fitting of the springs. Some cleaning up of the main axle boxes was required to achieve a good running fit. It was also necessary to dress the lubrication eccentric to get it onto the trailing axle.
Painting of the crank axle proved quite awkward trying to avoid contact surfaces. I did have one problem when one of the set screws used for fixing the main hornstay to the main horns sheared. It would appear that the hole was not tapped deep enough. I returned the offending main horn to Winson's and received a replacement by return of post.
