Dear Diary ...

The "powers that be" in the Council seem to have solved the problem of the removal of the dumped furniture!

It appears that the Housing Department can telephone Gloucester City Services, who are responsible for refuse disposal, and ask for removal of dumped large household items.

But Housing has to pay the £5 charge ... well, the tenants have to pay the charge through the rents!

Now, this is only when said items are dumped on property/land that is under the jurisdiction of the Housing Department!

Thinking creatively, one of our members suggested that if "someone" moved the offending items and placed them on the pavement some five yards distant, then it would be Highways Department (General Fund cash from Council Tax) that had to anti-up the dosh!

Now there's a thought!

The judges for the city-wide "gardening competition" visited the estate today. While only three council properties on the estate actually have gardens, there are categories for patios and balcony displays.

Normally quite a few residents on the estate pick up awards, so we are hoping that this year will be no different.

The residents of the Sherborn House sheltered housing scheme asked last autumn if they could take over the responsibility for the flower beds in front of their block.

The TCC backed their request, and permission was granted. They have produced a very colourful display of flowers this summer and we are all hopeful that they will do well in the "sheltered housing" category.

The good people at TenZero have fixed the problem that has knocked out our guest book for the past few weeks.
