Our regular Why not check Back Issues |
Dear Diary ... There is another saga of the bottle banks in the our mini-recycling centre. They came to empty the can and the three bottle banks last week. But instead of bringing four empty banks on the lorry, they brought an empty lorry down to take the four containers away. The problem was, they forgot to return the containers! So today we had to chase Environmental Services Department, who in turn had the thankless job of try to get some movement with the "contractor". Fair enough, the contractor brought some empty containers back. But the four containers managed to multiply ... and five were returned! But wait - two blue ones? The blue ones are for paper, and we have a large Aylesford Mills paper bank that hold a couple of tonnes - and is regulary emptiped very couple of weeks! So now we have three paper bank - and we are one short on the bottle! Why does it always happen at Kingsholm! Work on the chemist shop is now almost complete. Housing sold the land to the chemist who wanted his shop next to the doctors' surgery (makes good sense - so the NHS can do something constructive!). The shop is scheduled to open on Monday August 9. Looks an impossible target, but things have a habit of moving quickly at this stage! |
