Other Tenant Groups
The Kirklees Federation of Tenants' and Residents' Associations |
Kirklees Federation of
Tenants and Residents Associations (KFTRA) unites over
100 estate-based community organisations in the
Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees. Led by tenants elected from every council estate, we fight for tenants rights and work in partnership with Kirklees Council's Housing Services to ensure tenants have a real say in the decisions about their homes and estates. |
SILKIN COURT, MANCHESTER Tower blocks get a "bad press", but there are some that are thriving. Ones like Silkin Court in Manchester. Click on the picture of Silkin Court to the left and you will be taken to their homepage and be greeted with the words: "We're all very proud of our block, and we love living here". Not bad for tenants of a tower block in the middle of Manchester (a short stroll from Piccadilly Station)! And if you like what you see, then there is a page that tells you how to apply to Manchester Housing for a flat in the block! There's some fascinating stuff behind the Tenant Association (TASC) button! |

PERTH & KINROSS TENANTS & RESIDENTS ASSOCIATION Scotland has always had different housing law from England (and Wales). Perhaps now that Scotland has its own Assembly, the differences will be even greater! This tenants and resident association page is part of the Perth & Kinross Council's Housing Department site. But click on the T&R logo on the left and you will be directed to the tenants' "bit" |

The Tenant Participation Advisory Service for England (TPAS) is a national non-profit making organisation that provides information, advice, training, consultancy, seminars and conferences on all aspects of involving tenants in their housing management. TPAS is a membership organisation made up of tenants' groups, Local Authorities and Registered Social Landlords (e.g. Housing Associations, Local Housing Companies), and our management committee is made up of an equal number of tenants and landlords. |
Our favourite weekly housing magazine - it is
"tenant friendly"
The other housing weekly - not so tenant
friendly!
The Fosseway Housing Association was formed when the council tenants of the Cotswold District Council voted for a "large scale voluntary transfer". The houses are located in the Cotswolds, one of the scenic parts of England - and only a few miles from Gloucester. |
OVERSEAS HOUSING LINKS - USA
Our estate at Kingsholm comprises an 80-flat tower block of 10 floors which is "sheltered housing". In addition there is a purpose-built 25-unit Sherborne House sheltered housing scheme. It is good to see how other countries approach housing their elderly. Victory Housing in Maryland is charitable organisation offering "assisted housing" for the elderly. | |
The Texas Low Income Housing Information Service (TxLIHIS) has many interesting pages on how things are done in Texas. Augueably, this is the BEST site on the web that puts "social housing" in perspective. |
