Minutes Of The Meeting Held On Thursday October 20, 1994 at Clapham Court
Present: A. Harley (in the chair), P. Mayo, R. Jones, J. Tonks, J. Betterige, J. Gilbert, S Wilcox and F. Crowther (Housing Department).
1. Apologies | A. Roberts and K. Russell |
2. Minutes | The minutes of the meeting held on September 15 were duly adopted and signed as a true record of the meeting. |
3. Matters Arising | The Chairman reported that he had written to the Chairman of the BBC regarding the reduced TV licence for Clapham Court. |
4. Financial matters | The treasurer was unable to attend the meeting. FC said that he had not been given any balance from the finance section in the Housing Department. The chairman said that the invoice for the DeskJet printer had arrived. This was for some £225, and taking this into account there was about £4,000 left from the £5,000 grant for the year |
5. Estate Laundry | 1 FC reported that he had
asked Gloucester City Services to quote for the
installation of a sink for the "external"
laundry. The quotation had not yet been received. 2. FC would be in touch with the contract rental company to address the problem with the drying process and to see if a coin operated spin dryer could be installed. 3. FC said that the Housing Staff at Westgate were now keeping separate accounts for the machines in the "external" laundry and that he would have some figures for the November meeting. |
6. Caretaking Service | FC explained that
interviews for the post of caretaker on the estate were
taking place on October 25. He also explained the
position regarding the temporary caretaker, Mr. Tony
James, who was "on loan" from Gloucester City
Services. The Committee again expressed great
satisfaction at the work been carried out by Mr. James,
and asked if all avenues had been explored to try and
transfer him to Kingsholm on a permanent basis as
residents were very satisfied with the current caretaking
service that was being provided. At this stage, Norman Thomas (Housing Department) and Bruce Woodcock (City Architects) joined the meeting |
7. Office Accommodation | Mr. Woodcock gave an appraisal of what
was possible in terms of the conversion of the
"woodwork" room area of the ground floor of
Clapham Court into an office base for the TCC/TMO
Development. It was agreed that Mr. Woodcock and Mr.
Thomas to progress the matter to the next stage - drawing
up some definite plans and cost estimates. |
8. Grounds Maintenance and Paved Areas | Norman Thomas explained that he was
drawing up plans for all estates in Gloucester to
identify all the areas to be covered by the maintenance
contracts. These plan will show which department of the
City Council is responsible for the specific areas. He
also said that the monitoring process is an area that
could be undertaken by residents. It was hoped that the
system would be in operation by April 1995. FC is
currently drawing up the plans for Kingsholm Estate. |
9. Doctors Surgery | FC confirmed that he had written to the Valuation Department of the City Council regarding a contribution from the Doctors to pave the border area. To date a reply has not been received. FC said he would chase. |
10. Cleaning of Communal Windows | To date, FC has been unable to obtain
a quotation to clean the windows - he said that no window
cleaner has returned his calls. It was agreed to pursue
the matter and members said that the would ask the
various cleaners that came onto the estate to get in
touch with the Westgate Office is they wanted the work. |
11. Clapham Court Window Replacement | Housing Works are still investigating
the best alternative to carry out the work that gave the
least inconvenience to tenants. The Chairman said that
£400,000 had been allocated in next years proposed
budget for the work and had been approved by Housing
Committee to go forward to the budget "cycle"
in January. |
12. Trees | It was pointed out that that some of
the trees on the estate had been missed during the recent
"lopping" exercise. FC would investigate. |
13. Any Other Business | The date at time of the next meeting:
November 17, 1994 at 3.45pm in Clapham Court Meeting
Room. |
