4. Financial matters The treasurer was unable to attend the meeting. FC said that he had not been given any balance from the finance section in the Housing Department. The chairman said that the invoice for the DeskJet printer had arrived. This was for some £225, and taking this into account there was about £4,000 left from the £5,000 grant for the year
5. Estate Laundry 1 FC reported that he had asked Gloucester City Services to quote for the installation of a sink for the "external" laundry. The quotation had not yet been received.

2. FC would be in touch with the contract rental company to address the problem with the drying process and to see if a coin operated spin dryer could be installed.

3. FC said that the Housing Staff at Westgate were now keeping separate accounts for the machines in the "external" laundry and that he would have some figures for the November meeting.

6. Caretaking Service FC explained that interviews for the post of caretaker on the estate were taking place on October 25. He also explained the position regarding the temporary caretaker, Mr. Tony James, who was "on loan" from Gloucester City Services. The Committee again expressed great satisfaction at the work been carried out by Mr. James, and asked if all avenues had been explored to try and transfer him to Kingsholm on a permanent basis as residents were very satisfied with the current caretaking service that was being provided.

At this stage, Norman Thomas (Housing Department) and Bruce Woodcock (City Architects) joined the meeting

7. Office Accommodation Mr. Woodcock gave an appraisal of what was possible in terms of the conversion of the "woodwork" room area of the ground floor of Clapham Court into an office base for the TCC/TMO Development. It was agreed that Mr. Woodcock and Mr. Thomas to progress the matter to the next stage - drawing up some definite plans and cost estimates.
8. Grounds Maintenance and Paved Areas Norman Thomas explained that he was drawing up plans for all estates in Gloucester to identify all the areas to be covered by the maintenance contracts. These plan will show which department of the City Council is responsible for the specific areas. He also said that the monitoring process is an area that could be undertaken by residents. It was hoped that the system would be in operation by April 1995. FC is currently drawing up the plans for Kingsholm Estate.
9. Doctor’s Surgery FC confirmed that he had written to the Valuation Department of the City Council regarding a contribution from the Doctors to pave the border area. To date a reply has not been received. FC said he would chase.
10. Cleaning of Communal Windows To date, FC has been unable to obtain a quotation to clean the windows - he said that no window cleaner has returned his calls. It was agreed to pursue the matter and members said that the would ask the various cleaners that came onto the estate to get in touch with the Westgate Office is they wanted the work.
11. Clapham Court Window Replacement Housing Works are still investigating the best alternative to carry out the work that gave the least inconvenience to tenants. The Chairman said that £400,000 had been allocated in next year’s proposed budget for the work and had been approved by Housing Committee to go forward to the budget "cycle" in January.
12. Trees It was pointed out that that some of the trees on the estate had been missed during the recent "lopping" exercise. FC would investigate.
