Warren Hastings (1732-1814)

Warren Hastings was an English administrator in India and employee of the East India Company.

A scholar of Indian culture, he instituted administrative reforms to allow Indians to live according to their customs( a new idea at the time). He returned to London in 1786 and was accused of financial crimes, but was eventually acquitted in 1795.
