London Link- Other Attractions

So, you think you've seen all the major places that London has to offer? Well, below are a few additional places of interest that you might not have considered or takes you a little further afield.

The British Museum, Great Russell Street ,WC1

The Thames Barrier, Union Way, North Woolwich Rd, E16

The London Planetarium, Marylebone Road, W1

The London Aquarium, County Hall, Westminster Bridge Road, SE1

National Portrait Gallery, St Martins Place, WC2

The British Museum has the largest covered square in Europe as well as the famous round Reading Room, where the great names of the past and present have come for study and inspiration. The area is now open to the public as of Spring 2001.

The Thames Barrier is the capitals' most practical attraction, preventing a potentially catastrophic event if the Thames was ever to flood. A remarkable piece of engineering, looking fantastic either from boat or nearby at the new tourist park.

The London Planetarium, combined together with the nearby Madame Tussauds waxworks, makes for a long, but rewarding day out. The original technology has been upgraded to a true digital virtual reality experience which really does take you to infinity and beyond. For a closer view, there are also interactive exhibits.

The London Aquarium has the largest display of seabound species in England as well as a well structured design with different sections for the oceans and seas of the world over a vast area. If you think once you've seen one aquarium, you've seen them all, think again.

The National Portrait Gallery is situated just off Trafalgar Square at the back of the National Gallery. We all have our own idea of what fame is and who is really famous. This is the chance to see them up close but not always in the way you expect . Both past and present names are included from all walks of life and there is also a nifty little on-line section allowing you to quickly find your best pictures and images on computer.
