• The ruler of the English throne from 1042-1066, he devoted himself to religion while power was held by his son and his earls. He was responsible for the rebuilding of Westminster Abbey and it was his death which led to the Norman Conquest in 1066 in that William the Conqueror claimed that Edward had left the throne to him. This book provides a great historical insight into life in the final years of the Anglo-Danish monarchy.
