 IconMiscellaneous recording sessions

This section lists visits to recording studios for TV appearances, rehearsals, interviews and promo sessions.

July 25th 1978: Radio Manchester

The four tracks from An Ideal For Living were broadcast. Apparently an interview was also broadcast, but no details are known.

September 20th 1978: Granada TV Studios

Shadowplay was performed for the Granada TV programme Granada Reports.

July 20th 1979: Granada TV Studios

She's Lost Control was performed for the Granada TV programme What's On.

August 31st 1979: BBC Studios

Ian Curtis and Stephen Morris were interviewed by Richard Skinner for BBC Radio's Rock On programme.

September 15th 1979: BBC TV Studios

She's Lost Control and Transmission were recorded live for the BBC 2 programme Something Else. These tracks were eventually released on the Complete BBC Recordings album (the album notes give the date of the recording as 1st September 1979).

October 1979: Castle Pub, Manchester

Ian Curtis was interviewed and the result was released on a Northern Lights cassette and a picture disc. The Heart and Soul booklet gives the date of the interview as November 1979.

February 28th 1980: Radio Blackburn

Ian Curtis was interviewed for Spinoff on BBC Radio Blackburn, probably before the concert at the Preston Warehouse. The interview was broadcast in edited form on Radio Blackburn in March 1980 and on BBC Manchester in 1988.

April 28th 1980: T J Davidson Rehearsal Studio, Manchester

The band recorded the promotional video for Love Will Tear Us Apart. The song was performed live rather than mimed, and the video footage was later matched to the record.

April 1980: T J Davidson Rehearsal Studio, Manchester

Rehearsals of Ceremony and In a Lonely Place were captured on tape and appear on Heart and Soul. The Heart and Soul booklet attributes these to the Graveyard Studios, Prestwich, but this is probably where the tapes were worked on later.
