Here is a history of my bike. . .so far. . .

1984

My dad's shop demonstrator. Stock, except lower fairing and mirrors removed: 11.1 @ 124mph

1988

Removed air filter. Added CMA 6" rear wheel and banana pipe. Lengthened swingarm 4". Boost increased to 15psi with adjustable wastegate and rising rate fuel pressure regulator. This causes the ECU to switch off the injectors during the run, but still makes 10.71 @ 131mph. I bought the bike the following year, and kept it dry stored until 1996 when I bought the remains of Mick Hand's aborted twin turbo 750 project: an engine in pieces but with lots of homemade goodies, a Rajay turbo and an inlet manifold.

1998

Modified as below except for swingarm and lowering. Lots of frustrating electrical and other teething problems, but it managed one decent run out of the blue....9.44 @ 139.5mph.

1999

ENGINE

810cc Russ Collins forged CBX Honda turbo pistons with 17mm pins and teflon buttons. BHP alloy rods. Standard crank. Sped-up clutch with banded basket and lock-up. H2 clutch springs. Re-cut standard gears. Re-sleeved and O-ringed barrel. Ported ZX750A head with bigger stainless valves and copper gasket. Re-profiled cams with slotted wheels. S&W valve springs. Oil pump enlarged.12mm offset sprocket.

AIR SYSTEM

Rayjay B22/25 turbo with billet wastegate. Stainless headers and banana pipe. Alloy inlet tubing with silicon hoses. U-shaped intercooler. Alloy inlet manifold. Alloy injector blocks, room for 4 injectors per cylinder. Single butterfly on turbo inlet.

FUEL SYSTEM

DTA fully programmable (fuel and ignition) ECU. 8 Bosch grey 403 injectors. Weldon special pump and regulator. Stainless square-section fuel rail. Earls hoses. Lambda sensor.

CHASSIS

Stock frame. One-piece fibreglass body with GSXR seatpad. 10" over JMC swingarm with air. MRE airshifter. Pingel lengthened and widened wheelie-bars. 2" shortened forks. 6" CMA rear wheel with 7" Goodyear slick. Alloy fuel tank. AR50 front master cylinder, standard front disc and caliper. KMX125 rear caliper and cylinder. Straight bar conversion.

OTHER BITS

Ford Escort coil. ZX6R brake and gear levers. Harris footpegs. Scitsu tacho. MrTurbo boost guage. Dyna shift light.

ON THE SHELF (for next year maybe!)

Semi-automatic 3 speed gearbox. 904cc billet block and Wiseco pistons. NOS nitrous oxide. Dyna stutter box. "F" turbo compressor. Billet clutch basket. Rods with 18mm pins.

Due to an oiling problem, no runs this year, just lots of engine and turbo damage! Oh well, there's always next year....

2000

Over the winter I fitted the "F" compressor, .25 exhaust housing, stutter box, a new Mickey Thompson 7" slick, and pinned the big-end shells which had spun around in the rods last year. On it's first run at Santa Pod on 14th May, it went 8.699 @ 162.15mph, on 23psi boost. Two runs later it blew the turbo up (again).
