A minor figure, but important to the plot: when Patroclus is hurrying back from Nestor's hut to ask Achilles if he can borrow his armour and go out and fight, he is delayed by tending to the wounded Eurypylus.Thus he gives the Trojans a chance to storm the wall and reach the ships, and displays the emotional side of his nature which will have disastrous consequences when he does go out to fight.
