HeraHera or Here (Roman Juno), daughter of Cronos and Zeus' sister - and, as if that were not enough - wife. In Book 14 Zeus refers to their passionate premarital relationship: but since officially being married, Zeus' passions have mostly been directed elsewhere (he lists a small selection in Book 14). She is devoted to the Greek cause, and continually tries to intervene on their behalf, frequently reminding Zeus of his commitment to the destruction of Troy. Zeus as frequently reminds her of her place, and threatens extreme physical violence. She can still be sexy, as when she seduces Zeus in Book 14 so that the Greeks can secure a breathing-spaace.
