Even the mighty AJAX, as a fighter second only to the absent Achilles, has to retreat under Trojan pressure. There's a savage duel between SARPEDON, son of Zeus - Trojan ally- and TLEPOLEMUS, son of Heracles (who reminds us that his father sacked Troy once). Tlepolemus is killed, and Sarpedon wounded, but saved (for now) by his almighty father. The Greeks fall back - unable to withstand the combined onslaught of Hector and Ares.
