Sarpedon carried off by DeathSarpedon, son of Zeus and Laodameia, the daughter of the hero Bellerophon. He was commander of the Lycians, and one of the best warriors on the Trojan side - not afraid to tell Hector off. He killed Tlepolemus, son of Heracles, and was the first to break through the Greek Wall (Book 12). He is fated to be killed by Patroclus, and Zeus is distraught at not being allowed to save his son - but Hera says if you let one god do it, they'll all want to, and then where would we be? But at least he can arrange for his body to be carried home to Lycia by Sleep and his brother Death.
