The live steam section has a continuous raised track suitable for 3½" and 5" gauge locomotives. It is about 660 feet long and runs around the perimeter of the Community Centre site. Access to the steaming bays is by trolley and from there to the track by traverser. There are two 5" gauge club locos, one steam and one diesel and a 3.5"steam loco, on which new club members can get driving experience.

Visiting locos are welcome (by prior arrangement please) and must have a current boiler certificate.

There is a well-equipped and comprehensive workshop, which includes some larger machines not normally found in the home workshop. All club members have access to the workshop with tuition or guidance if required (we really must do something about those walls !)

Work is also is being carried on two of the club's locomotive as seen in the photograph below. In the front a new boiler is being built for our 'Butch' locomotive. You can see the inner and outer wrappers being positioned in preparation for staying.
In the background Dave and Roy are fitting out the larger boiler for our 'Hall' class locomotive.

Apart from the workshop activities on Friday nights we also have working parties (currently on Wednesdays) to carry out projects and maintenance work on our track. The summer of 2006 with its hot dry weather had not been kind to our track where we had subsidence on some of the track piers. Stabilization of these piers has been completed and this photo shows the track in use on our public running day in April 2007. The ground has since been landscaped and grass planted since this photo was taken.
