| Beastie Boys have been around for
years and years. I've grown up with songs such as Fight For Your Right (To Party),
and I think they rule. Recently there has been a massive Beasties revival, based
around the stunning new album, Hello Nasty, definitely an album of the year. The
first single from that album, Intergalactic went straight into the top five in the UK, and
with its Fatboy Slim remix, Body Movin' was also a massive hit. Hello Nasty went
number one on both sides of the pond, which proves that the Beasties are one of the
coolest 'alternative' bands in the world. They had a massive argument with a certain
other world-wide alternative phenomenon - the prodigy. Beastie Boys joint headlined
the Saturday at Reading Rock Festival 98 with prodigy. Beastie Boys, who notoriously
had caged dancing women at their gigs in the 80s, requested that prodigy did not play
their 1997 top ten hit Smack My Bitch Up, as they found it offensive. Prodigy told
them where to go. I personally go for the freedom of speech perspective on the whole
thing, but at the moment I am a bigger Beastie Boys fan than Prodigy fan, but that is only
because there has not been any real new material since The Fat Of The Land was released
well over a year ago. |

| This is my favourite album track
from last years exceptional Hello Nasty LP, but as all you readers out there will
already have the aforementioned album, then why buy the single if it doesnt have the
attractions of the last couple (i.e. remixes by Prisoners of Technology, Urban Takeover,
and, er, Fatboy Slim!) |
| Body Movin' |

| Fatboy Slim's Remix of the sixth
track of Hello Nasty rules - It's typical of his You've Come A Long Way, Baby, class.
The remix has the line Body Movin' repeated a few dozen times, and a
groovy sample played underneath. The A-side is very good, but as it is just the
album version, you all have it anyway, so you must know it. There is also a new song
on the CD - Peanut Butter And Jelly - featuring a baby gargling. |
