| Vindaloo |
     |
| Here we go, another of
my favourite singles of 98, this is so funny, so cool. The video is the best video I've
ever seen - it's everything that's British all rolled into one, and even pokes fun at the
Verve's Bittersweet Symphony - this time Richard Ashcroft (Denis Penis) is run over by the
red car!. The lyrics are amazing, written by Keith Allen, who sings on the record - he
alsowrote the smash hit New Order track back in 1990 - World In Motion, and he's in
Trainspotting, and he owns, with top British artist Damien Hirst, the Turtle Neck records
which published Vindaloo. Damien Hirst has also designed all the artwork, which rules -
the sleeve features Damie's teeeth with Vindaloo written on them. In the special limited
edition CD (100,000 copies only - buy 'em NOW there's a special CD-Rom video anda free
poster featuring a bucket of vindaloo and some red arrors writting vindaloo in the sky.
The bass played from Pink Floyd is featured on the record, as is Alex from Blur, and it is
gonna sell millions, guarenteed. I love it so much, the words are so cool - cheddar
cheese, knitting, tea, and buckets of vindaloo. If this doesn't inspire England to win,
then nothing will. |

Christmas (Goblin In The Office) |
  |
| After the success of the
21st biggest selling single of the year - Vindaloo -Keith Allen, Alex James, Damien Hirst,
George Dawes & Dennis Penix are joined by Joe Strummer for the unofficial Christmas
record. Unfortunately it is not a patch on the last one, and I seriously doubt it
will echo its success. |
