Friday
26th February 1999 - Judge Jules, Stretch N Vern, Sexy Simon, Jordan,
Nippa [5/5] |

Club Description |
Medium sized - two floors - main floor with speakers at both
ends, and fancy lighting effects, plus upstairs there are more places to dance. The
DJs are raised a storey so everyone can see them - the main bar is upstairs too. All
Mackie-fans will love the cat logos everywhere you turn. |
Capacity |
1000 |
Popularity Of The Club |
Very popular - always packed - everyone loves the club and
the DJs - with no complaints about anything. |
Nature of clubbers |
Some of the friendliest clubbers in the country - everyone
was there to dance - not just to get drunk - they all are into the music - everyone is
determined to have a great time - its hard to find anyone not dancing - even those
sitting down or standing at the side are constantly moving. |
Cost |
£7 |
Opening/Closing time |
22:30 - 04:00 Though on the night we went, Judge Jules did
no less that three encores till well past closing time. |

DJs Coming Soon |
DJs |
Judge Jules - Levi ads Flat Beat opened his set
to a euphoric atmosphere, Stretch N Vern - who dropped Britney Spears -
Baby
On More Time (Sharp Boys Remix) and surprisingly everyone went mad! He also teased the
crowd by literally playing a few seconds of Stardust and Armand Van Helden, before moving
onto the less commercial tunes. |
Dress code |
Regular clubwear, plus you get glitter painted onto you on
entry |
Toilets |
Very cool - there must have been about ten urinals, so you
get that all important space between you and the drunk bloke pissing all over the floor
(not that they necessarily get them here). Didnt check out the womens bogs
Im afraid, but if the blokes are this good, Im sure the ladies are
too. |
Drinks |
Beer - £2.60 per pint. Good choice, with Fosters and
Kronenberg amongst others. Tasted a bit watered down, but its cheaper than most
places, so that doesnt matter. |
Age in General |
A young-ish crowd, though plenty of older clubbers too |
Bouncers |
Perfectly fair - infact all the staff I met were cool - they
offered oranges around at the end - something seldom seen in the Superclubs. |
Food |
The petrol stations your best bet at 4.30 in the
morning |
Alternative Clubs |
Thousands of alternatives to The Zap are nearby if you
cant get in - The Honey Club is next door, The Escape is very close too. Other clubs
in the area include The Beach, The Pressure Point and the BN1 Club |

Address |
The Zap Club, Old Ship Beach, Brighton. If you get lost,
ring them up, and theyll ring you back to give you directions - how nice is
that! Though to be honest, just go to the sea front, then look for the biggest pier - park
on the right of it, walk to the left of it, then down at sea level youll see the
Honey Club and the Zap Club - cant miss em! |
