WHO AM I?
Well, for those of you who are interested: here's
a little page dedicated to myself.
My full name is Annette Ellen Miller, and I'm 21
years of age. My birth date being the 18th of February, 1976.
This date may ring a few bells for you 'die-hard' fans....but if
it doesn't, then like I mentioned on one of my other pages; 'Secret
Samadhi' was released on this day, my 21st birthday.
I was born in Rhodesia, Africa, but since '78, I've been living
in Devon, England. And as you can imagine, I have a really strong
Devonshire accent. I once tried to lose my accent, but a friend
told me "that it was nice" and that it gave me
"character". It's really quite funny. I'm currently
studying Mathematics at the University of Plymouth, and am hoping
to have my degree by the end of the Summer '98. That is, if I
work hard enough.
If you hadn't gathered by now, I like music, but not only Live. Other musical interests are bands like Skunk Anansie, Reef, Alanis Morissette, Counting Crows, The Cranberries, Garbage, Presidents of the United States of America, Placebo, Prodigy, Silverchair, and occasionally a bit of Madonna. I don't like Britpop as a whole, even though I'm English and should. I do, however like Suede. They're pretty good. So my musical tastes vary from day to day, but overall it's basically pure rock. Some of my all time favourites include "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple, "Don't fear the reaper" by The Blue Oyster Cult and "Wishing Well" by Free. Pretty old but classy stuff. And then there's Live, but they're in a league of their own. Nothing matches the material that they come out with. My Favourite Live song has got to be "Heropsychodreamer". I can't explain why, it just is ... it sounds so ... hmmm. I can't find the right words to describe it. And then there's "Iris", a close second, but just as good. I've been listening to Live for about 3 years now, and have most of their releases. Keeping in mind I live in the UK, it's pretty hard to get hold of any Live merchandise.
I can't play any musical instruments, but I am in the process of trying to learn the Saxophone. I was given an Alto sax for my 21st, but it's just been sitting there because I can't find the time or the money for lessons. (Hey Chad, fancy giving me some Sax lessons when you're not busy?) I'm hoping to take it up properly when I finish my degree because I think it's a wonderful instrument, and I love the sound it makes.
Hmmm, I'm also interested in the Art of Body Piercing. Before you think me a freak, I'd just like to say that I find it fascinating. I mean, it's no different to getting your ears pierced, but everyone thinks you're weird if you have anything else done. (Hi mum if you're reading this :o)
My favourite place has got to be Ontario Science Centre, Canada. I went there last year and it was brilliant, so now I'm going again this year. (I enjoy studying science; so that when something defies the laws of science, I find it funny). Take my computer for example. It is a law unto itself. One day it works, one day it doesn't. I don't know why it does it to me. Maybe I push it too far? I'm also visiting Niagara Falls, again with some dear friends: Mr Davey K and Joyski. Watch out Toronto, here I come! I'm also going to check out all of the record shops ... maybe I'll find some Live stuff hidden away. Here's hoping anyway. Ever the optimist.
I like watching "X-files", as does practically the whole of the World. My favourite film at the moment is probably "Men in Black". It's *really*, (emphasis on really), funny if you haven't seen it. Will Smith is as brilliant as ever. And Tommy Lee Jones is pretty convincing too. The casting of these two together makes the film. MiB.
So that's pretty much me..I can't think of anything else to write at the moment, but I'm sure I'll add something a bit more interesting when I can :o)
Just back from TORONTO..
Well hello again..just back from Toronto. What can I say? It was brilliant, and I also managed to buy some Live CD's. Great huh? A *BIG* thank you to Dave and Joanne. And see you next year in America. :o) So do you want to hear about it.. yeah sure you do. You want to know about me since you're on this page .. Well, like I said, I've just returned home after two weeks (16 days to be exact) in Toronto, Canada. And what did I get up to? HMMMM. Well I went to Niagara, and went on the boat trip into the falls. I went into SkyDome and watched a base ball game. The Toronto Blue Jays V's Baltimore Orioles. We lost. That was on the Tuesday (23rd I think). Visited the CN Tower and walked on the "Glass Floor". That was pretty funny. There was all these people just looking at it, going "No, no...can't do it", so I just walked onto it, and started jumping!! You should have seen it .. he he ... Canada's Wonderland and the "Drop Zone" ride was freaky. They take you up 22 storeys and then drop you. What a rush. And of course, the Science Centre. I saw my WebPages there. I also had a tour around the "Much Music" studio, (thanks Joe and Sue)..that was neat. And lots of shopping. Didn't find many Live CD's, they were ones I've already got. 2 new ones .. And also visited an English-style pub, and had typical English food. I also had some Chinese food. The "congee" (sp?) was really tasty and filling. I dipped out of eating "Calamari" .. (Squid),because I *can't* stand seafood. Everyone else was eating it though, can't be that bad. So that's about it .. I also bought loads of other CD's on the recommendation of lots of SOYer's. Moist, Our Lady Peace , I Mother Earth (who split recently after the Much Music Awards), and Third Eye Blind. I liked The Tea Party's song "Temptation", but didn't buy the album. So the CD collection has expanded a little .. haven't got any money left now. I'm going to have to start saving again for next year.
When I remember something else, I'll be sure to add it.
