The River Tay At Dunkeld

Here we are at Dunkeld trying for a fresh Springer. Despite being very cold the initial conditions looked quite good. We decided to leave the camera in the car in the morning as we already had enough to carry. This turned out to be a bad idea as we caught three fish in the morning which were all Kelt's (which were all safely returned to the river) However, when we went back for the camera at lunch time we never got another touch. Typical !

The first Kelt was caught in the upper reaches of the beat in the calmer water and weighed around 6lbs. The next two were caught just above the small croy on successive casts the first of these weighing around 9lbs and the next weighing around 15lbs. We did bump into a chap who had been out in the boat with the Ghillie and he had also caught three Kelts, one weighing 20lbs. So, unfortunately we have no fish pics but here's some pics of the beat and us trying like bears.
