Jan De Nul Group - New investment program

The Jan De Nul Group has recently ordered two stationary cutter suction dredgers.

These two medium sized vessels have a cutter power of 1500 kW, and a total installed diesel engine power of about 8500 kW.

The vessels will be built by Tianjin Xinhe Shipyard in China. The shipyard is also building four 3700 m3 split barges for the Jan De Nul Group ordered in September 2003.

The cutter dredgers will be delivered in the first and third quarter of 2006.

The main dimensions are:

Length between perpendiculars: 65.5 m

Width: 19 m

Depth: 4.75 m

Dredging depth: about 20 m.

The dredgers are very heavy for their size and have a large freeboard. This makes them suitable for dredging tough soils and safe for operations in exposed areas.

The cost of the vessels, with their equipment, is approximately 60 million Euro. The Jan De Nul Group is continuing to renew and expand its fleet after finalizing the previous program, initiated in 2000, consisting of 5 hopper dredgers, a self-propelled cutter suction dredger and 4 barges, representing an investment value totalling more than 400 million Euro.
