The King 'Billy', as it is known locally, is a 200 year old English pub situated next to the village green in Kirksanton on the edge of the Lake District. There is a warm and friendly atmosphere which is ideal for relaxing after an active day - walking on the fells, playing on the beach or sightseeing in the Lake District. The nearby Black Combe, at 600 metres, is the highest mountain in the area.
We have accommodation for eight guests for Bed and Breakfast or longer holidays all in en-suite bedrooms with television and tea and coffee making facilities.
You can enjoy a home cooked dinner in our separate Dining Room or have a meal in the bar. We are featured in the Good Pub Food Guide.
The bar has a traditional stone flagged floor, an open log fire and comfortable traditional seating. We are proud of the quality and variety of our beers. You will find us in the Good Beer Guide each year from 1995 onwards.
There is a well equipped children's playground on the village green and children are welcome with their parents in the pub. The area offers both walking and climbing, sea and river fishing, horse riding, and golf as well as many ancient historic sites and buildings and areas of outstanding natural beauty. Coniston Lake is twenty minutes drive away.
