THEATRE LOVERS

The St Neots Players are looking for people who do not believe that the town should be thought of as a cultural desert (and who would like to help create a cultural oasis here).

We are seeking to create an audience club of friends of the St Neots Players. It costs just £5.00 to join for one year. As this is approximately the current cost of a ticket to one of our shows you would recover this very quickly as your donation entitles you to one free ticket to one play each year (excluding pantomime).

In addition you would receive a minimum of two St Neots Players Newsletters each year. Also, you would have the opportunity to buy tickets and join us on any organised theatre trips to London, Cambridge, Peterborough and others places which will be arranged from time to time. Such party bookings would be discounted, of course, and would include coach transport to and from the venue.

Once a year St Neots Players would hold a club night at which they would present an entertainment for the club members and then join them for a little cheese and wine or similar refreshment when The Players and the Club members will mix socially and exchange ideas, comments and suggestions as to what members would like to see the Players present for future shows etc.

 STOP PRESS:

We held our first Club Evening on 22nd October 1998 when we presented a potted version of Peter Rowley's play, God Save England and it was such a success that we have decided to have more that one a year. The second one was on 11th February 1999, with a chance for club members to get a preview of what we will be taking to the Newmarket One Act Play Festival (You can see us there on Saturday evening, June 12th at the Kings Theatre), an original play by Albert Jeanes called "The Ritual" and we are looking forward to new things to do.

We had our first club theatre trip to Peterborough's Key Theatre to see Gwen Taylor in "Shirley Valentine" in May 1999. Enjoyed by all on the minibus.

The St Neots Players next production (Autumn 1999) will be "La Ronde" and will be [presented week ending 25th September 1999 at The Priory Centre, St Neots.

No definite dates have been set but we are looking at a poetry reading, a treasure hunt and a quiz night as well as theatre trips. Club members will be informed when dates are set.
