Letter 21

"Open fire, all weapons! Bring back their Boddies, or Stella if they've run out of bitter." But we're not bitter. You may be, getting this letter at such a late stage, but hey, we are the last minute crew. As Homer wrote in his epic novel, The Oddity, "Doh!!".

And now for home thoughts from home. As the committee surfaced from the remains of Steve's house boiling party, the aftermath was shocking. Shares in Boddingtons had reached a new high, some people's tastes had reached a new low, and one young Drooper has entered English mythology by reopening Pandora's box. This may not make sense.

"Ugh", grunted Steve. "Argh", replied Mike. "Huurrrl", said Matt. The toilet flushed, and the house awoke. "How long before you go to Germany?", inquired Mike. "Doh!!", said Steve, "We'd better write some bollocks to put in the newsletter. "Speaking of which," cried the spirit of Bob from the bottom of the vodka jelly, "who wants a copy of the tape?".

22-25 August Bank Holiday - Grange, Lake District

The first SDMCC trip to the much-FACCed campsite near Grange in the Lakes. There's loads of room for tents, the farmer doesn't normally care about campfires and there's a river to swim in. Need I say more?

To get there go to Grange, which is on the B5289 in Borrowdale. Turn west across the troll bridge, the road zig-zags a bit and then there is a left turn to the campsite between buildings. There are actually three campsites - two marked on the map and one not. You're after the one that's not. The campsite is just a field off to the left of the track that leads to the National Trust campsite. If you can't find this one, camp in the National Trust site and we'll find you on Saturday morning! Grid ref is 250172 on the yellow no. 4 map.
