My Photos
Here are the best of my holiday snaps. They are all thumbnailed - click on an image to download the full picture. With IE5, move the pointer over the picture to get a description: I don't know whether this works with Netscape or other viewers.
The procedure that I followed for each photograph was:
Scan the photo at 100 dpi if full size, or at 200dpi if zooming into a portion of the picture. This saves a .bmp file.
Read the .bmp file into Paint Shop Pro, increase the brightness by 10% (the scanned images were darker than the originals), and save as a JPEG (.jpg) file.
Reduce the image size to 141x100 pixels for a full-size photo, or similar for others. Save with the same file name but with a "t" suffix (for thumbnail). For example, the file zam1-03.jpg has an associated thumbnail file zam1-03t.jpg.
Use FrontPage Express to edit this HTML page. When inserting images, browse to the thumbnail file. Then right-click on the image, select "Image Properties...", and set the Default Hyperlink location to the full-size file name, and the Text Alternative Representation to a suitable description of the picture.
Delete the .bmp file, as it is typically 1Mb compared with a typical .jpg of 75Kb.
