Fallen Trees
William Overington
Here is my song for the Fallen Trees songwriting event. I have indented
four spaces for the chorus and eight spaces for the bridge.
Please sing slowly.
Fallen Trees
Eclectic imagery
Copyright 2000 William Overington
Of fallen trees
Paint out moving pictures
Which now and then freeze
Literal or Metaphor
Sing as you please....
With the eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
After a storm
It is then found
A huge specimen tree
Now lay on the ground
No one there when it fell
Did it make any sound?
Now people and traffic
Seek out a way round
Eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
Paint out moving pictures
Which now and then freeze
Literal or Metaphor
Sing as you please....
With the eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
From trees that had fallen
Many ages ago
A tree thought extinct
Science would know
Then found living in China
Leaves float in the breeze
Deciduous, Coniferous
Dawn Redwood trees
Eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
Paint out moving pictures
Which now and then freeze
Literal or Metaphor
Sing as you please....
With the eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
A tree that has fallen
By natural means
Gives wood that can be used
For vegan tambourines
Or used for a sculpture
With a conscience that is clear
Or used to make furniture
Lasting many a year
Eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
Paint out moving pictures
Which now and then freeze
Literal or Metaphor
Sing as you please....
With the eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
Eclectic imagery
Drifts through the mind
Eclectic imagery
Some harsh, some kind
Eclectic imagery
Sing as you please....
Eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
Songs on the internet
About fallen trees
All with the same title
Though diverse imageries
A difficult challenge
Much thought and then more
On a breeze through a forest
Let imagery soar
Eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
Paint out moving pictures
Which now and then freeze
Literal or Metaphor
Sing as you please....
With the eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
With the eclectic imagery
Of fallen trees
