Block Tatting Without Changing Shuttles – Jane Eborall 2007

This is just one method of working block tatting which I came up with.  BUT I am sure it’s not original as it’s just far too simple!!!

In this example I am making a block of three doubles. 

N.B.  Each join is made pulling the thread nearest to the previous chain through the vsp and putting the working shuttle through the loop.

First row. 

Ch1:  1 vsp 3 worked normally

Second row.

WITHOUT turning the work or changing shuttles and without flipping the stitches (as in the second half of a split ring, encapsulating Sh#2 thread). 

Ch2:  1 vsp 3 DO NOT FLIP STITCHES

After completing the second row now FOLD allowing the work to bend over backwards on itself and lock join to vsp on Ch1 using the nearest thread which is Sh2

Continue with a regular chain and flipping the stitches as normal.

Ch3:  1 vsp 3 Lj (vsp Ch2)
